WEEK 13: Research Paper (TKAM)


MONDAY-TUESDAY
  1. Rough Draft: Complete rough draft of your research paper for To Kill a Mockingbird.  All 4 sections need to be completed.
  2. Peer-Edit: Grab a purple pen and use the C.U.P.S checklist to guide you in fixing your mistakes.  You must use the symbols below through-out your peers paper and attach the CUPS organizer to their paper to receive a lab grade.
  3. Final Draft: After your peer-edit, you should have rewritten your rough draft making sure to fix the mistakes identified in peer-edit.  Open Google Docs (needed: gmail acct), and TITLE IT: "YOUR FIRST NAME & LAST NAME-FINAL DRAFT"
  4. USATESTPREP: Complete practice questions and play games to turn dots to green before Thanksgiving Break.
HW DUE TUESDAY 10/31: 
1.) REWRITE ROUGH DRAFT (ALL 4 SECTIONS).  REWRITE IT USING PENCIL.  MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE THE REVISIONS FROM YOUR PEER-EDIT...24pts!!!!

WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY
  1. Whole-Group Edit: Bring your paragraphs up to be reviewed and scored
  2. Peer-edit: Complete one final peer-edit with someone new.  Focus this time on RACER and parenthetical citations.
  3. Final Draft: Open Google Docs and begin typing your final version of your paper.  See example below for format/font etc.
  4. Works Cited Page: Go to citation maker online  and plug-in the website of your source to create a works cited entry.  It may require you to scan the website and pull info like the author, title, day of publication and write it in the boxes in order to have a complete works cited entry.

FRIDAY
  1. Watch A Time to Kill and complete viewing guide (17 questions).
  2. Write RACER: What are some similarities between TKAM and A Time to Kill
HW DUE 11/6
1. USATESTPREP practice questions (1-10)
2. Read the Pacific Standard article on the Stand Your Ground law in Florida.  What does the article tell you about who is more likely to get away with vigilante justice in the US?  Choose 5 sentence starters to write discussion questions for our seminar on Monday.
3. HAVE PARENTS SIGN-UP FOR EOC NIGHT for extra credit
