MONDAY: 

1. Grade pretest using PRETEST ANSWER KEY
2. Fill out a  Error Sheet for the questions you missed. Make sure to include the skill you missed.
3. Research a poet or musician from the Harlem Renaissance and write a brief biography of at least two paragraphs of significant events in their lives. Include a picture. Copy down the sources you used to gather information.  The biography should answer: who they are, where they were born and spent most of their lives, when they were alive, what work they were famous for, and why they are important to the Harlem Renaissance.
4. Choose a poem from your poet and perform it for the class on Thursday, August 26th. Harlem Renaissance Link
5. Read pgs. 1-33. Prepare for class discussion tomorrow.

FRIDAY: Finish "The Lottery" (2nd block) or The Necklace (3rd block) and write a paragraph explaining how the story's theme fits Appearance vs. Reality.  Provide evidence from the text (quotes, examples) explaining what the perception of the lottery and townspeople was before the event and what reality is revealed at the end?
