W-up: Pronoun Agreement
  1. Writer's Workshop: Students scored student anthology submissions.
  2. Common 5: Students discussed 5 common errors on the anthology submissions (ie: punctuating dialogue, indenting, etc)

  1. Watch Freedom Writers and complete viewing guide
  2. Compare/Contrast The Bronx Masquerade with the movie.

WEEK 6: New Chapter Project/Unit Test

TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY
  1. Review Unit Project: Create a new character to add to Mr. Ward's 10th Literature class.  The character must be somebody totally new and unlike the other characters. Write a one page story  from the point of view of your new character. Include a minimum of 7 examples of dialogue and an original poem that reveals a conflict, future dream or goal of that character.

HW DUE 9/7: Rough draft (1 page min.) of your story due on Thursday.

THURSDAY

  1. Writer's Workshop: Choose one of the following poetry types( link #1, link #2 to develop a poem in your originals characters point of view.  Poem must be a minimum of 8 lines with two Poetic Devices (fig. lang).
  2. TPCAST: Trade papers with a partner and see if you can complete TPCAST strategy for the poem.
HW DUE 9/8: Rough draft (8 lines min.) of poem to go with story completed.  You can share for extra credit on Unit Test Friday.  Study for Unit Test!!! (covers all 17 characters, and vocab list)
