  1. Finish watching A Time to Kill.  Complete viewing guide (1-17) and write a paragraph answering the writing prompt on viewing guide.

  1. Vocab List #4: Complete definitions for Kairos, Ethos, Logos, Pathos, Claim, Counter-Claim
  2. Mini-lesson: Take notes on the 4 types of persuasive appeals (KELP).
  3. Spring Board Textbook: Read A Letter from Birmingham by MLK and highlight/label any examples of persuasive appeals (KELP).  Place examples on KELP organizer

HW DUE 11/9:
1. Complete questions 1-6 on page 209 in SpringBoard Textbook.

THURSDAY

  1. Finish analyzing Letter from Birmingham Jail by MLK for persuasive appeals (KELP).
  2. In groups, place examples of your assigned appeal (Kairos, Ethos, Logos, or Pathos) from letter onto poster paper.
  3. Gallery Walk: Identify which examples did not belong. 

HW DUE 11/10

FRIDAY

  1. Read Why College Isn't And Shouldn't Have to Be For Everyone from HuffPost by Robert Reich (pg. 83-85 SB).
  2. Identify more examples of persuasive appeals (KELP) used by the author by highlighting and labeling each example/evidence.  Annotate the text in the margins by explaining why you highlighted it.
  3. Group: Place one example of each appeal (KELP) you identified and place on KELP organizer
  4. USATESTPREP: Complete practice questions for the skills missed on Mock EOC.  

HW DUE
1. Read Actually, College is Very Much Worth It on page 86-87 in Springboard. Complete questions 1-6. Prepare for timed writing in lab on Monday 13th on the assigned reading.
