WEEK 11: To Kill a Mockingbird

RESOURCES: EagleTV SyllabusBronx Masquerade Novel (1-80), Notebook Check #3To Kill A Mockingbird (movie link)

MONDAY
  1. Finish TKAM movie
  2. TKAM project: Complete #4 on the project sheet.  Rewrite the last scene as Boo or Bob Ewell might have told it.  Some things to consider.  Explain why you were out walking late that night?  Were you waiting for the children? How come you have a knife?  Must be at least two pages in length and in final draft quality.
HW DUE TODAY
1.) USATESTPREP: Practice context clues.  Due no later than Sunday at midnight. Anyone that did not complete this can complete for a late grade during the lab.

TUESDAY

  1. Writer's Workshop: Use analysis sentence starters to revise the "E" in RACER for you film V. book paragraph.
  2. USATESTPREP: Complete practice questions and play games to help turn dots green from Mock EOC.
WEDNESDAY
  1. Review research paper assignment
  2. Brainstorm (see sections of paper below)
    1. ABSTRACT
    2. SUMMARY OF TKAM (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution)
    3. CHARACTER ANALYSIS-ATTICS FINCH (S.T.E.A.L)
    4. MODERN DAY ATTICUS (COMPARE ATTICUS TO MODERN HERO)
    5. REFLECTION (TEXT TO SELF CONNECTION WITH THEME OF TKAM)
HW DUE 10/19: 
1. Completed brainstorm for research paper 
2. A thesis statement that has your topic (A modern day Atticus), your position (is similar to Atticus), your arguments (reasons #1, #2, #3).

THURSDAY-FRIDAY

  1.  Abstract (DUE 10/20): This should be a couple of paragraphs long summarizing who you are comparing to Atticus.  Answer these four questions in the form of a paragraph each and  type into Google Docs.  Font=12/Times New Roman:
    1. Summary of your  topic/issue
    2. Explain how your historical figure connects to Atticus and TKAM
    3. Explain why you selected this topic
    4. What you expect to learn.
  2. Source Sheets (DUE 10/24): Gather evidence from your first source the online novel of To Kill a Mockingbird and place on your source sheet.  You will end up with 3 source sheets with info gathered for each of the sections of your paper (see pic below).  Download the source sheet to your lunch number.  Save three source sheets.  Title each source sheet 1, 2, and 3.
