MONDAY
1. HW Check: Plot and Character Organizers
2. NOTES: Rules for dialogue
3. ROUGH DRAFT: Complete a rough draft of your short story in your writing portion of notebook. Look at sample dialogue from the novel to help you write dialogue.
HW Due 2/27: Study for Unit Test. Complete rough draft of poem for project.
TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY
1. Unit Exam (1-78). Exam will cover vocab lists 1-3, warm-ups and the novel Bronx Masquerade
2. Writer's Workshop: Students wrote rough drafts of short story. Look at sample short story for ideas on an engaging start.
HW Due 2/28: 1 and 1/2 to 2 page rough draft (narrative w/ dialogue) Checkout different ways to start your narrative >>>HERE <<<
THURSDAY-FRIDAY
1.Visit this link and this link revise your dialogue
2. Add a poem and a reflection paragraph from Tyrone's point of view that reveals what he learned about your new character from their poem.
3. Proof read your story using the following checklist before typing:
- Is there at least 7 lines of dialogue
- Is dialogue indented each time there is a new speaker?
- Does dialogue reveal important stuff like the central conflict, or character personality or move the story along
- Is there a title (New Character's First and Last Name)?
- Is the narration in first person (I, me, my, etc)
- Does the story end up in Mr. Ward's class and leading up to the character sharing a poem?
- Is there a poem and does it reveal the conflict in the story?
- Is there a reflection paragraph from Tyrone
- Does the poem have figurative language?
5. Proof read Google Doc before hitting the blue button "SHARE". After pressing share you will be asked for an email address. My email address will be given to you in the lab.
