MONDAY-TUESDAY
  1. Click on link to Zinc, a new resource we will use each Monday to improve our reading and vocabulary comprehension. Once in Clever, select Zinc and look in notification (looks like a bell in top right corner):
    • Take High School Exam to test your reading levels. Record your score (1-7 scale).
    • Play vocab game before reading How to be a Good Bad American Girl using Zinc.
    • Complete 5 question quiz after reading to prepare us for our reading of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird
WEDNESDAY
  1. W-up: Transition Words
  2. Notes on Rise and Fall of Jim Crow
  3. Read Ch. 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird
  4. Discuss the main characters introduced in chapter 1.
THURSDAY
  1. W-up: 4-point writing.  Describe what it was like being African American in the South at the turn of the century.  Use facts about segregation on pages 196-199 to develop your situation.
  2. Review Jim Crow notes
  3. Preview Ch. 1 Vocab
  4. Read Chapter 1-2.
  5. Complete vocab list 
FRIDAY
  1. Read chapters 1-2 in class.  Complete a double-entry journal by finding a quote/example showing the development of the characters, setting, or conflict.
  2. Watch TKAM and complet viewing guide
  3. 2-point writing: How is the introduction of the novel different than that in the movie?
HW DUE MONDAY: Read chapters 1-4.  Complete vocab list.  Prepare to be tested on the events and vocab in the first couple of chapters.
