MONDAY
- Persuasive Test #1: Write in top left name,date, period. You have 20 minutes only.
- Finalize EOC #1: Proofread your rough draft after getting a grade then type it in Word and save to your lunch number.
- Class Anthology: Type up the poem or short story you will add to class anthology if you haven't already and save to lunch number
- Gallery Walk: At 10:30, copy the media bias organizer below and begin gallery walk. Visit a minimum of two computers and complete the graphic organizer that you copied in your notes section. Organizer: Headline| Media Bias Types| Aprrove/Criticize
TUESDAY
- W-up 30#:Fast Food/Min Wage. Read the article and find evidence from author for why he believes the minimum wage should be raised. Complete sections 1-4 in writing process organizer.
- Intro 1984:
- Watch video and take notes on 10 Steps to Totalitarianism
- Review 1984 Prezi
WEDNESDAY
- W-up 32: War on Drugs Targets Blacks. Read the HuffPost article and answer the following question: What were the real motivations (reasons) for the War on Drug started by Nixon in 1971? Provide evidence from the interview making sure to explain the effects of this big lie on the various communities targeted.
- Notes: 10 Characteristics of Totalitarianism
THURSDAY
- W-up #32: Word Map "Propaganda." Write The definition for the word propaganda use it in a sentence provide examples of propaganda and the symbol or image that represents the concept of propaganda.
- TOP/Brainstorm/Movie: Watch "The Giver" and gather evidence of how the movie is an example of dystopian society. Use the notes below to understand the 9 characteristics of dystopian worlds.
FRIDAY
- EOC Extended Response #2: Develop a 5 paragraph essay for the writing topic above under Thursday for the Giver.
- Test: Study this week's notes: Propaganda Techniques , Dystopian Society, 10 Characteristics of Totalitarianism, and class vocab below.
