WEEK 4: FICTION/POETRY (novel studies)

MONDAY
1. Warm-up:  Write a sentence in your warm up section that shows split dialogue (Think about last question on Friday's test). See: Rules for punctuating dialogue
2. Read the novel Bronx Masquerade.  You will need to have read the first 60 pages before Friday.
3. Update character logs for each new character
4. Compete vocab list #3.
4. Write a RACER paragraph after reading the novel.  Explain one new character and their conflict revealed in their poem.  Provide the exact line in the novel that illustrates this conflict and be sure to explain what it revealed about that character 
HW DUE 1/30: Read pgs 1-60. Have RACER paragraph ready Tuesday for writer's workshop

TUESDAY
No school!!!!

WEDNESDAY
1. Warm-up: Double-entry journals.  Find one quote that reveals a new character's personality then write down your thoughts about that quote.
2. Read novel (pgs. 1-60). Complete character log up to Judianne on page 58.
3. Update vocab list #3
4. Finish Necklace presentations.
HW DUE 1/31: None

THURSDAY
1. Warm-up: Drawing Inferences
2. Writer's Workshop: Revise RACER paragraphs from Monday (Prompt: Explain a new character in novel and their obstacle(s).
3. Notes: Limerick
4. Open Mic #2: Write a limerick for one new character in the novel Bronx Masquerade.  It should follow AABBA rhyme scheme and express one thing about the character.
HW DUE 2/1: Vocab List 3, Character Log (Wes-Judianne), Open Mic 3(Limerick), Quiz (Study: pgs 1-60, vocab, match character to poem, figurative language in each poem)

FRIDAY
1. Quiz on pgs 60-107 cancelled due to pep rally.  Quiz will be replaced with unit test an ALL 18 CHARACTERS on Wednesday 13th.  
2. Open Mic #2: Limerick for a new character we read about this week.
HW DUE: Continue reading the next 60 pages and update your character logs to Porcha on pg. 167. Logs and vocab due Wednesday 13th. You can download a new log >>>HERE<<<
