MONDAY
1. W-up: Subjects, Predicates and Objects. Do 1-10 today.
2. Read the Bronx Masquerade.  Stop after reading about the character Devon Hope and his poem.
3. Update character logs/ vocab list #2
4. Write a RACER paragraph answering the following questions.  Explain one new character and their conflict revealed in their poem.  Provide the exact line in the novel that illustrates this conflict and be sure to explain what it revealed about that character (REMEMBER: start w/ T.O.P)

TUESDAY
1. W-up: Subjects, Predicates and Objects. Do 11-20 today.
2. Read the Bronx Masquerade.  Stop after reading about the character Devon Hope and his poem.
3. Update character logs/vocab list #2
4. Writer's Workshop: Student paragraphs from Monday will be scored 1-4 in class.  The focus will be on using RACER strategy effectively.
5. Vocab List #2: Students worked on decoding unfamiliar words from novel and completing Freyer's model organizer.
HW DUE 1/31: None

WEDNESDAY
1. W-up: Subjects, Predicates and Objects. Do 1-5 today.
2. Setup Springboard Textbooks
3. Notes: Double-Entry Journal.  Copy down the T-chart and stem sentences to help you start taking notes of what you read and found fascinating.
4. SpringBoard (pg 9-11): Read "Speak" and highlight anything that could be used in your double-entry journal for today.  Complete questions 1-3.
5.  Read the Bronx Masquerade.  Stop after reading about the character Devon Hope and his poem.
6. Update character logs/vocab list #2

THURSDAY
1. W-up: Subjects, Predicates and Objects. Do 6-10 today.

4. Notes: TPCASTT/ Figurative Language (tools for analyzing poetry on Thursdays)
5. Watch spoken word poem and use TPCASTT to analyze.

FRIDAY
1. Review for quiz
2. Bronx Quiz #1: 30 questions on the first 10 characters, their poems and the vocabulary words in the novel.  There will be a section on the warm-ups we covered as well.
3. Open Mic Friday: Share poems and listen to guest speaker.
